Hi! This is Annie Mescall from The Annie Issue Blog. I've teamed up with Stage this holiday season to share gift ideas for your girl bestie. My family loves shopping at Stage stores because they offer a little something for everyone at all sorts of different price ranges. One of the biggest reasons why I love the holiday season is because it gives us a reason to do something kind for others. I enjoy getting gifts for friends and family much more than receiving them myself. Ever since I started blogging, I've been welcomed into this huge community of bloggers and thankfully half of them are mothers just like me. I've built strong relationships with these beautiful women and so have our children. Next month, we have a gift exchange for us moms and for our children too. I've rounded up 9 things that any girlfriend would love to receive.

Gift sets are always my number one purchases. Who doesn't love a little bit of everything? My girlfriends and I definitely need our wine and face mask nights. This origins set is great because you get to try 3 different masks. If you're anything like me, personalize gifts are the best. This wine set can be personalized with the letter of your friends first or last initial. Beauty sets are also really fun because you don't have to worry about whether or not you chose the right lip color. I've had my eye on this Clinic Chubby stick set for a long while now. If you haven't heard of Clinic's Chubby stick, it's a light tinted lip balm. Something you definitely need during the winter. Philosophy also makes great bath and facial products that every woman should try. This gift set comes with cleanser, exfoliating wash, and moisturizer. I believe that the best time to buy perfume is during the holidays because of all the sets that are available. Most of the time the sets are actually cheaper than the bottle alone! I would describe Marc Jacob's perfume as a light airy floral scent. Their perfumes aren't overwhelming and can be used everyday.

When it comes to buying home products as gifts, I try to find items that are practical and functional. Decorations are hard because you never know what type of decor that person prefers. A faux fur throw is honestly the safest home gift item you can buy. Your bestie can use it for their living room, bedroom, guest room, or even as a decoration in a woven basket. Plus, who doesn't love a super soft blanket? You really can't have to many of them. Diffusers are one of the most popular items right now. This one is portable and easy to use. Diffusing essential oils help with coughs, flu, pain relief, and can smell refreshing. If you haven't tried out diffusers, I'd suggest this one because it's affordable and small.

The last category of gifts I'm going to discuss are going to be accessaries and shoes. When shopping in this section of the store, I suggest trying to find pieces that are neutral and would be considered an essential item. Who is going to turn down a pair of cozy house slippers? Especially during the winter! I've heard so many great things about these Koolaburra by UGG slippers. They are lined with faux fur for comfort and warmth. They come in black too. Winter accessaries are items that I would say are essentials for the winter. I chose this black plaid print because it'll be easy to throw on with most outfits and practical.

If any of my girlfriends gave me any of these gifts I would genuinely be so happy and thankful. Especially the house slippers and mini mask set!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope this has helped make your holiday shopping experience easier.

DRESS: Pink Lily (love this one too!) // COAT: Revolve // SHOES: Christian Louboutin (similar here) // BAG: Gucci (dupe here!) // BRACELET: David Yurman (dupe here!)

JUMPSUIT: Express (another option here!) // SHOES: Christian Louboutin (similar here) // BAG: Gucci (dupe here!) // EARRINGS: Baublebar // BRACELET: Victoria Emerson // BRACELET: David Yurman (dupe here!)

New Years Eve is in 10 days so now is the time to start planning your outfit for the big night. I use to spend my NYE out with my friends downtown but now I enjoy popping fireworks with my family and children. This NYE, I actually plan on going out with my friends because it has been way too long and this Mama needs a break from all the busy holiday madness. NYE is a night where you can look as fabulous and shiny as you please. Bring out your sequins, mini dresses, velvet, and fur pieces! I found two beautiful pieces that you can wear for NYE and get in time as well.

The first outfit is this beautiful sequin dress. The scallop detail is my favorite. I love how subtle the sequins are, it isn't overwhelming. The length is also a little longer so it's a classy dress. I threw on my teddy coat because we all know that the weather likes to be freakishly cold every NYE.

The second outfit is one that I picked up 2 days ago. I saw it on display and had to have it!! It's really flattering and hugs your waist just right. It's also velvet, which makes it more festive. You can throw on a belt around the waist too. It's currently 50% off ($44) and all sizes are available. I usually size down with this brand but I stuck with my true size (4).

What are everyone's plans this NYE? Staying in or going out? That's always the big question.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

TOP: Madewell // BOTTOMS: Madewell // SHOES: Christian Louboutin // Liam- TOP: Old Navy // PANTS: Zara // SHOES: Freshly Picked // Chloe- DRESS (sold out, similar here) // TIGHTS: Janie & Jack // SHOES: Freshly Picked

Christmas is in less than one week. Can yall believe it?! I feel as if Halloween was just yesterday? It's true what they say about time feeling that it passes by faster as you get older. With 6 days left until Christmas, that only gives me a short amount of time to do these festive activities that I'm about to share. Liam is out of school so you can imagine all the time we have together to bake cookies, watch reruns of Elf, and build gingerbread houses. Running around with children is al ot of work so I narrowed down easy activities that are pretty much effortless.

1. The easiest activity of all is watching classic Christmas movies! Our favorite holiday movies are Elf, Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas, Christmas with the Kranks, and The Grinch.

2. Drive around the neighborhood looking at lights! I throw Liam in the car with a cozy blanket and hot chocolate, pull down the window, and drive around at 5 MPH. Liam LOVES looking at Christmas lights. He points out all nutcrackers, deers, snowmen, and trees.

3. If you're not baking cookies with the Children, you're missing out. They get so excited and messy! Liam enjoys using the flour and rolling out the dough. If you're not big on baking (like me), they sell premade dough at Central Market and Whole Foods! You can also buy the tub of sugar Pillsbury Doughboy at the grocery store too.

4. Make a trip to your local light festival. We have plans to go to Magical Winter Lights-Houston this week and I can't wait to see Liam's face lite up! Google your nearest light festival. I love zoo lights but sometimes it's overcrowded and overwhelming

5. Have a gingerbread decorating contest! This is perfect if you have old children that can build and decorate their own houses. You can buy prebuilt gingerbread houses at the grocery store now. I think this activity is fun and creative for the whole family.

6. Make a custom ornament. There are 100 ways to make your own ornaments (view this post for ideas!)

7. Have a play day in the snow. When I lived in Colorado everyone would stay in when it snowed. I loved taking advantage of every snowfall to build snowmen and run around with Liam. We always took hot cocoa with us to help keep us warm.

8. Create a gift box for someone in need. This year, Liam and I choose some toys and clothes at Target to give to a child in need. I plan on doing this monthly. I believe it teaches our children to be giving, to be appreciative of the things they have, and to learn how to help others.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Waxing isn’t a topic that women typically like to talk about to others because we’re talking about hair in places that we wish weren’t there, like our legs or underarms. I’m changing that today because I’m share my life changing (not even exaggerating) experience with Waxing The City. I had my first appointment almost two months ago and I didn’t know what to expect. I’ve only ever gotten my eyebrows waxed at a local nail salon. When I booked my appointment, I saw that there were a huge range of services. They offer waxing for eyebrows, full face, arms, legs, neck, and basically every where your body grows hair. I noticed that they offered eyebrow tinting so I thought I’d try it out. I went in for eyebrow shaping, upper lip, underarm, and the tint.

During my appointment, I had my own private room and the environment was very relaxing. My Cerologist asked me what I was looking for, my pain tolerance, and even informed me of the type of wax they used; Ceranaranja. She told me that the wax would easily remove my hair without causing too much discomfort. I didn’t really believe her at first because I’m usually in tears after they rip off the wax. I can honestly tell you that when she pulled off the wax, I barely felt any pain. On a scale of 1-10, I would say it was a 2. I was in shock and even asked if hair was pulled out! I never really thought about waxing my underarms but after finally doing it, I’ll never go back to razors. My underarms were completely hairless, clean, and smooth. I didn’t have to get them waxed again for over a month and the hair grew back a lot thinner. I highly recommend giving it a try. After I had my eyebrow shaping, I had my eyebrows tinted. I was nervous at first because I was afraid that they would come out too dark. The eyebrows came out to a more dark natural color which I really liked. It lasted about 2 ½ weeks for me.

I was genuinely happy with my first appointment and have had two other appointments since. I’ve even taken my 16 year old cousin to get her brows shaped because they offer a tween brow service as well. She came out of her appointment having the same experience as I did.
If you haven’t tried out Waxing The City, you should! You can receive 50% off your first appointment!

Please let me know if yall have any questions or how your first appointment goes!!

Christmas is in 8 days! I can't tell if I'm exciting for the big day to come or sad that the holiday season will be over soon. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and also my favorite season to decorate. Coming home to a room that smells like roasted marshmallows and seeing Christmas decorations makes my heart so happy. I moved into our home a few months ago so I've been going all out with making our home feel like home. We hosted our first Thanksgiving dinner ever this year and will be hosting Christmas dinner too!

I'm teaming up with Stage to share how I prepared our home for the holidays and a classic hostess outfit. I ordered my dress and tons of decorations from Stage online. They carry a huge selection of holiday decor. I spent hours picking out items. I wanted so many things! The decorations were festive and the prices were honestly unbeatable. I was able to get most of my items for 50% off! This is my very first time decorating the dining table for Christmas and I love how it turned out. I believe that candles are essential for decorating a dining table. I ordered these battery LED ones to put on top of the gold candle holders. I was once told that it's bad luck to have unlit candles while eating at the table, have yall heard that as well? My home is filled with Christmas trees and I wouldn't have it any other way. These artificial trees can really be placed anywhere in your home. I've even let Liam put mini lights and ornaments on them. I bought this garland at our local nursery to tie everything together.

The shelves came with the house when we bought it and I love that it's another place that I can decorate. I bought pieces that could be used year round. That way, when the season changes, I can add a little touch versus starting all over.

Lets not forget about an outfit idea as a hostess. As a hostess, we all know that between getting your house ready and cooking dinner, there's little to no time to get ready. Throwing on a simple but dressy LBD and heels saves you time and you look effortlessly chic. Black dresses are classic and timeless. I snagged this black dress and threw on a pair of nude pumps. I just saw this lace one and it's beautiful!

We have over 15 family members getting together this Christmas! I love being around all of my family members during this time. It may be loud, crazy, and hectic but it's so nice seeing everyone together.

Thank you so much for reading!

TOP: Madewell // SKIRT: Goodnight Macaroon // SHOES: Old (similar here) // BAG: Gucci // BRACELET: David Yurman

You know that one skirt that everyone has and is obsessed with? This is it! There are many times that I tell myself that "I don't want that sweater or skirt because everyone has it and I don't want to be basic". Well, today I don't care because there's a reason why everyone has this skirt. It's so chic and cute!! Leopard print has made such a huge comeback this year. There are so many different patterns,  color schemes, and styles. I believe that it'll always be a classic print, like stripes or camo. I use to think of leopard print as something you'd wear to the club. Now, it's such a chic and fun print to play with.

I have an exciting Friday planned. Liam has his Christmas program and party at school today. He has been singing and talking about Jesus for weeks. I also have a girlfriend's birthday dinner party tonight. I'm looking forward to having a few hours to myself tonight.

Happy Friday! Thank you so much for stopping by!

TOP: Madewell // BOTTOMS: AG // SHOES: M Gemi // BAG: Gucci // HAT: Old (similar here)

TOP: Madewell // BOTTOMS: AG // COAT: Chicwish // SHOES: Christian Louboutin  // BAG: Gucci // (similar here) // LIP TINT: Fresh (Rose)

This may be one of my favorite outfits ever! When I bought this sweater the first way I knew how to style it was with a pair jeans and booties; a casual winter outfit. The first outfit is one that you can wear on a cold winter day. I added on a white beanie because who doesn't love a warm pom beanie. The heart pattern on this sweater was what drew my attention. The patterns makes it so fun and different. Plus, it's insanely soft!

If you don't have time to go home and change for a night out, you can easily pack two things that are probably in your closet now; a pair of nude pumps and a camel coat. When nighttime comes, the weather gets colder so a camel coat is needed. One tip that I will help dress up your casual outfit is to start off wearing white denim. White jeans can be worn casually but can also be easily dressed up.

I hope these tips help out! They are super simple and attainable.
