WHAT I'VE LEARNING IN MY FIRST MONTH AS A MOTHER OF TWO...

DRESS: BP // SHOES: Vince Camuto // HAT: Old (similar here) // BRACELETS: David Yurman & Victoria Emerson // WRAP: Solly Baby // Liam- TOP: Ruggedbutts // BOTTOMS: J Crew // SHOES: Freshly Picked // Chloe- OVERALLS: Gymboree // BOW: Wunderkin // SHOES: Freshly Picked

This first month as a mother of two has been the busiest, stressful, and most wonderful time in my life. When I was pregnant I thought, Liam's going to be the best big brother, our family is growing, and I'm finally going to have the daughter I've dreamt of. I never really comprehended how much work it was actually going to be. The newborn stage is such a short amount of time that I sort of forgot how hard it was. I've learned a few things that I didn't expect or realize would happen.

Mom Guilt

Why mothers feel guilty about all the little things they think they're doing wrong is bazar but very real. Whether some moms feel guilty about leaving their children or not being a good enough parent, my guilt came from not spending as much time with Liam as I use to. Before Chloe was born, Liam and I were attached at the hip. My weeks were planned around Liam and what activities would make him happy. The moment Chloe was born, Liam became jealous (this lasted about 3 days). He would cry for me when I held or fed Chloe and my heart broke. What do you expect from a former only child? I remember the first week that we were home, both children were asleep and I busted out crying while staring at Liam. (I'm pretty sure most of it came from the hormones). I felt so horrible about the time I wasn't spending with him I was constantly nursing, changing diapers, and just taking care of a newborn 80% of the time. Tommy actually started laughing because he thought I was being silly for even feeling guilty. He told me that "Liam knows you love him and that you're a great mom". I wanted to spend my time with him when Chloe was asleep but I was drained. A few weeks have passed and I sort of learned how to manage my time better. When Chloe is asleep, I take this time and divide it up between work, cleaning, and Liam. I try to set out at least one activity a day for Liam and I. They started out as small activities like playing play dough together, watching an episode of his favorite show, reading a few books, playing with his Avenger toys, or riding his bike around the neighborhood. We went to the park for the first time since Chloe was born and it was a big step for me. (Our park is a little drives away so getting two children into the car is a lot more work than it sounds). Every minute that my children don't actually need me (ex: when Liam's eating lunch at the table and Chloe is actually being chill) I clean, cook, and work on blog stuff. Learning to manage your time has really helped me not feel guilty about how much time I'm giving each child.

Having a schedule is key!

This summer, Liam and I were all over the place. It was really like we were on a summer vacation every day for the past 5 months. We ate at random times, did something different every day, sleep late, and really enjoyed ourselves. When we lived in Colorado we were on a schedule but when we moved to Texas everything was up in the air. We were living between my grandparents, aunts, and sister's place so it was hard to settle in. There was no actual home for us yet because we were in the process of buying a house. The minute Chloe was brought home, Tommy put our entire family on a schedule. He would always tell me how important it was and I'm now realizing that he's right. Having both children on a schedule has helped me with time management, I know what's actually going on throughout the day and it allows me to have alone time at night when they're both in bed. Liam is also in school two days a week so we had to get use to waking up early. Our schedule isn't exactly the same everyday but our meal and nap times are the same 7 days a week. I'm still trying to manage work and family time since I do work from home. Right now, I spend most of my work time staying up late, but that also restricts the hours of sleep I get. I'm still learning but hopefully I can find a better balanced work/sleep time.

Pace yourself and take things slow

I'm the type of person that likes to stay very busy. The idea of being home ALL day watching Netflix doesn't intrigue me. With children, I constantly remind myself that my children need to be at home and rest. Children don't prefer to sleep in a car all day. They like to be at home in their own bed and having activities in the living room. I started to plan out my entire month in my planner and I space everything apart. If I need to shoot for a blog post, get groceries, and have lunch with girlfriends, I plan them all on different days.

I'm raising my children differently

I think every mother has said to herself "I won't ever do that with my child". With Liam, I knew exactly what I was and wasn't going to do. Liam was going to nurse, never take a pacifier, be potty trained before 2, sleep in his own bed, ect. With the second child, you get to learn from your first go around and see what worked and what didn't work. Chloe sleeps in her own bed and its something I wish I forced on Liam. She sleeps through the night and I'm beyond thankful for it. I'm not a big believer on pacifiers but because they aren't the best for gums and feel. My hands are full so I have started to use a paci with Chloe when she's upset and it has really helped me. Every child is unique and it's okay to raise them a little differently. In the end, they'll all be hyper little children that eat your entire plate of food, and wreck the house, lol.

I'm still learning as I go with each child and I can only hope to better myself everyday as a mother. I barely have any time for myself but that's nothing compared to having these two babies. You always hear that being a mother is the most fulfilling thing you can do in your life and I strongly believe in that. I make mistakes along the way but at the end of the day, I know what's best for them.

MY THOUGHTS ON OVERALLS...

OVERALL: Pink Lily (wearing a medium) // CARDIGAN: Pink Lily // Tee: Madewell // SHOES: Christian Louboutin // BAG: Gucci

This may be my favorite outfit EVER!! I'll be honest with you, when overalls made a comeback two years ago, I wasn't about it. Overalls reminded me of my nerdy elementary days OR being on a farm milking cows and feeding chickens. THEN, I saw one of my favorite bloggers, Christine from Hello Fashion style them and it changed my entire perspective (her blog post is here). I've contemplating on getting them for a while and then I finally took the plunge. When I tried this pair on, I immediately fell in love. The frayed bottoms and ripped details made it so much more chic. I added a stripe cardigan to dress it up a bit so it wouldn't look plain with the white tee. Personally, I have to wear  heels with overalls. When I wore sandals with these overalls, it looked a little too country for me. The nude heels just gave it a more elevated look. I felt like such a cool mom.

Whenever I want to try out a new trend but I'm not sure how to style a particular piece, Pinterest is my best friend. Pinterest shows you endless amounts of way style overalls. What are your thoughts on overalls? Hate them or love them?

MOM AND MINI FALL STYLES...

SWEATER: Stage // SKIRT: Stage // Liam- TOP: Stage

Pumpkin carving, crisp air, apple picking, cozy sweaters, and leaves changing colors. These are just a few of my favorite things about fall. Fall wasn't a season I looked forward to until I moved to Colorado and had the chance to actually experience cold air, golden leaves, and pumpkin festivals. Now that I've had a taste of it, I get overly excited about it every year. I already have a fall trip planned with the babies.

I've teamed up with Stage today to share two fall looks; a mom and mini (toddler boy) outfit. Fall arrives any day now! I've already been wearing my cozy sweaters and boots when I get the chance. One trend that never gets old is a monochromatic neutral look. This basically means wearing all nude toned pieces. I knew this sweater would be perfect this season because 1) I love stripes 2) distressed is crazy right now and 3) the price is amazing. The weather in Houston hasn't quiet dropped so wearing skirts with sweaters is more ideal for fall transitioning. When Houston does finally realize that its suppose to be below 60 degrees, I can pair my sweater with denim jeans, leopard heel booties, and a moto jacket for a warmer #OOTD.

Camo is another timeless pattern that works well into fall, really any season. With toddler boys, dressing them up is so much fun and effortless. Having staple pieces for them is key; a pair of jeans/slacks,  comfortable shoes, and a jacket. With these staple pieces, you can throw on any shirt or sweater and they're set! With this camo top, it unbuttons so as it gets colder, I can throw on a white thermal underneath and have the camo serve as a light jacket.

My family and I have been shopping at Stage stores ever since I can remember. My mom use to take us to Palais Royal for back to school shopping and cold weather essentials. The prices are unbeatable and they have a huge selection.

DIAPER BAG FOR TWO...

DIAPER BAG: Soho Babies // DRESS: Chicwish // SHOES: Sam Edelman // Liam- TOP: J Crew // BOTTOMS: Janie & Jack // SHOES: Vans

It's super rare to see me at home throughout the week. I'm constantly on the go. Our weeks are organized throughly so we know what our day looks like. Our weeks consist of multiple play dates, doctors appointments, school drop offs, errand runs, and spending time with family and friends outside of the city. Even while I was pregnant, staying at home was not my thing.

Now that I'm a mother of two, there are more outings. It wasn't until Chloe was born when I realized how many things she would need when leaving the house. I originally threw all of her essentials in my tote purse but it over filled and got unorganized really fast. When I received my Soho bag, I was immediately surprised at how light weight it was. There's also tons of compartments to help organize everything. My bag fits all of Chloe's (diapers, extra clothes, ointments, bottles, swaddle, burp clothes, ect) and Liam's essentials too (extra clothes, lunch, and toys). Even though Liam is 3 and has been out of diapers for over half a year, I still like to bring extra clothes in case he gets really dirty at the park or spills ice-cream all over himself. Plus, he loves to bring all his toys when were out and ends up making me store them for him. This is such a mom thing but when I saw that this bag came with a diaper organizer and changing mat, it was a game changer.

Tommy really loves the diaper bag because he can wear it too. Tommy loves being a dad. He soaks up everything about being a dad. He LOVES pushing the stroller, running around the park with Liam like crazy boys, carrying our babies in a body wrap, and carrying the children's backpack. I appreciate all the things he does for them. He's definitely the fun parent.

TRANSITIONING YOUR SUMMER WARDROBE INTO FALL...

TOP: VICI // CARDIGAN: Pink Lily // JEANS: VICI // SHOES: VICI (love these) // BAG: VICI

Happy Wednesday! This week has flown by and it probably the one week where I wish I could freeze time. Tommy leaves at the end of this week and were trying to soak up every single minute. Even though we've had a long distance relationship since day one, it's always hard to say goodbye. Now that we have two babies, I know Tommy is going to have a much harder time. I'm already dreading how Liam is going to feel. We are apart for another 6 months so lets hope the second half flies by just as fast as the first 6 months.

Today, I'm sharing a super easy way to transform your summer outfit into fall...adding a cozy outerwear. Wether you're wearing shorts or jeans, adding a light weight cardigan to your outfit makes your outfit fall ready. The great thing about this style tip is that cardigans are a classic and timeless piece so you probably already have one in your closet. To style a cardigan with a summer of body con dress; throw a cardigan over, add a belt around your waist, and finish with a pair of closed toe shoes.

FINDING THE PERFECT BASSINET FOR CHLOE...

BASSINET: Micuna

When the time came to finding the perfect bed for Chloe, I knew one thing...that I wanted a bassinet that rocked. Before she was born, we already had plans for Chloe to sleep next to our bed for at least 6 months. When Liam was a newborn, we bought a basic bassinet from Target and he didn't want to sleep in it. It wasn't comfortable and it didn't rock. Liam also had a crib that he probably spent 1 night in. Liam ended up sleeping in our bed and it has been a struggle trying to get him out. Even though I absolutely love sleeping in the same bed as Liam, I know that if I could go back in time, I would have  had him sleep in his own bed.

Chloe is almost 3 weeks and sleeps throughout the night in her bassinet. She actually prefers to sleep alone. It has also been easier on me in the middle of the night as well. Being able to simply sit up in my bed to check up on our daughter in the middle of the night and making sure she's doing alright has made our nights so much easier. When I saw the Micuna Nacelle, I immediately fell in love with it. The design is modern and sleek, which was exactly what I was looking for. (Their bassinets are also handmade which is something hard to come by these days). When it arrived at our door, I put it together right then and there. It was probably one of the first things that I've ever built. It was extremely easy to put together. Liam even tried it out when I finished. The bassinet rocks so smoothly and easily, when I hear Chloe wiggling in the middle of the night, the rocking motion puts her right back to sleep.

I'm pretty sure I got lucky with Chloe because her sleeping schedule is perfect. She will sleep through the night (most of the time) and being a mother of two, I'll take every sleeping minute I can.

CHLOE'S LITTLE BEDROOM NOOK...

RUG: Lorena Canals // BASKET: Lorena Canals // BASSINET: Micuna // DOCKATOT: Deluxe // BALLOON GARLAND: GlamfettiCo // CHLOE SIGN: Etsy // FLORAL GARLAND: Etsy // SWADDLE: Clementine // BOW: Wunderkin

I'm so excited to finally share Chloe's little bedroom with everyone. Chloe's little "bedroom" is actually in a space in my bedroom. I knew from my past experience with Liam, that if I already went ahead and decorated a whole bedroom, she wouldn't use it until she was at least a year old. Liam had an entire bedroom from the moment he was born and we probably used it once or twice. Being so young, I feel comfortable having Chloe sleep in her bassinet in my bedroom that way I can easily check up on her and feel at ease.

I wanted her space to feel as much as a room as possible. I'm in no way an expert "home decorator" but I think I did a pretty good job! I love the way her little nook came out. Palm print has always been a favorite of mine (if you couldn't tell by the pictures, lol) and I knew that this rug would be piece that tied in her whole room. There are pops of pink because it contrast perfectly with the light green tones. I wanted to decorate the walls as much as possible because I feel that it gives it more character.

I've had TONS of questions about Chloe's and Liam's DockATot and I have to say that it's a MUST HAVE!! We use it every single day/. It's such a convenient sleeping and changing space. It's great for traveling, whether if that's a far travel, or a trip to visit your family members. We use it every time we're in our living room or when Liam want to cuddle with Chloe. Even though Chloe can barely pick up her head, we're always right next to her while she's in her DockATot in case something happens. You can never be too careful.
